A History

Sam Adelstein founded Sam Adelstein & Company in 1916. He began the company using a horse and buggy to collect scrap materials in St. Catharines . By 1962, Sam Adelstein & Company had outgrown its Page Street facilities and moved to the current location on Welland Avenue . At this time Sam Adelstein & Co. was under the direction of Sam’s two sons, Albert and Dave. From the early 1970s until 1990 the company operated a Waste Hauling Division. 1989 saw the opening of the Public Metal Supply division. Currently, Albert shares the management duties with his sons Brian and Mark. Together, the management team has combined over 100 years of metal recycling experience. The company is proud to be in its fourth generation of family ownership.
